Lesson Mockup
Exploring the Harlem Renaissance: A Research Writing and Poetry Analysis Lesson
This mockup lesson is a sample from a fictional course I designed, combining historical exploration, literary analysis, and research writing skills. The focus of the lesson is on the Harlem Renaissance, a period of profound cultural and artistic achievement in African American history.
The lesson takes learners through a journey of analyzing poetry from this era, using a grammar-based approach inspired by the Trivium method. By teaching learners how to deconstruct poetry step by step, this lesson not only enhances their understanding of literary devices but also improves their critical thinking and writing skills.
Objectives of the Lesson:
Introduce the historical and cultural context of the Harlem Renaissance.
Guide learners through analyzing poetry using the Trivium's grammar phase (observing and interpreting language).
Help learners apply these analytical skills in their own research writing assignments.
What This Project Demonstrates:
Interdisciplinary Instructional Design: The integration of literature, history, and writing illustrates my ability to design lessons that are both engaging and educational.
Creativity and Innovation: Using the Trivium as a framework for teaching poetry is a fresh take on traditional literary analysis.
Technical Skills in eLearning Development: The mockup showcases my ability to create interactive, visually appealing, and pedagogically sound learning materials.
This project highlights my passion for creating learning experiences that are not only informative but also meaningful and memorable. I hope you enjoy exploring it as much as I enjoyed designing it!
